Rachel’s story is one of resilience, empowerment, and innovation. With a strong background in care coordination and 23 years of NHS experience, Rachel has been actively seeking employment despite living with the long-term effects of a stroke in 2007. Rachel was working towards becoming a paramedic. The condition impacts her left arm and limits her ability to stand for extended periods, making traditional roles challenging and ending Rachel’s career of choice.
Rachel’s determination to return to work is inspiring. Recently, she took a major step forward by attending the Kaleidoscope Incubator Programme, an initiative designed to empower individuals with disabilities and health conditions to take ownership of their career journey. Hosted by Seetec Pluss in partnership with the Kaleidoscope Group, the programme helps participants rediscover their sense of purpose and explore meaningful employment or business opportunities.
The event, led by Kaleidoscope founder Hardeep Rai, sparked something extraordinary for Rachel. Drawing inspiration from the programme’s ethos, Rachel has begun developing a business concept that leverages her professional expertise and lived experience. Her idea? A bespoke service designed to support individuals and employers in navigating the complex journey of adapting to life after acquiring a disability.
Rachel’s plan outlines services such as:
Her unique perspective—shaped by personal challenges and professional insight—offers authentic empathy and actionable strategies for those facing similar transitions. Rachel hopes to refine her portfolio and business plan further with guidance from Kaleidoscope mentors.
Rachel’s journey is a powerful reminder that adversity can spark innovation. With determination, tailored support, and the inspiration gained from Kaleidoscope and SEETEC, she is not only pursuing employment but shaping a future that empowers others.
